Title: Goldfish Memory
Director: Liz Gill
Specs: Ireland / UK 2003 35mm 85min
A local bar and an irascible taxi-driver are the central point around which vibrant characters dance with their sexuality in this fast-paced, sexy comedy that explores the deepest of desires: the quest for the perfect relationship.
Tom is a sleazy English professor who, when wooing his young students, uses the 3-second memory span of a goldfish as a metaphor for love. When he is caught by girlfriend Clara kissing his latest conquest, Isolde, Clara’s rebound affair with newscaster Angie sparks a chain reaction of cleverly inter-woven gay and straight relationships – successful and unsuccessful - that eventually comes full circle.
The result is a sexy, sassy insight into Dublin city life where lonely hearts are redeemed, and rose-tinted glasses are shattered, until the next pair is donned.
