Title: When Boys Fly
Director: Stewart Halpern & Lenid Rolov
Specs: USA 2001 video 60min
Investigating the sub-culture of circuit parties, this personal and intimate no-holds-barred documentary explores the allure that attracts thousands of men to taste the buffed bodies, trendy drugs and pumping music of the all-weekend White Party – Miami’s rival to our MCQP extravaganza.
We approach the search for that illusive, pulsating high through the eyes of four insecure young, beautifully honed boys. Tone, always the intoxicated soul of the party, is on a collision course with the E.R. Mummy’s boy Brandon, is a cautious circuit virgin. Insecure Jon’s big-eyes are constantly dogging fickle Todd’s toned-body as this old timer makes his rounds.
Although confined to a very specific sector of this society, we are plunged into a world of intense escapism where the excitement, physical highs and exhilaration co-exist with the fatal side-effects of extreme drug “G”.
