Boys Don't Cry is the story of the brutal rape and murder of Teena Brandon.
It starts when twenty-year-old Brandon has a boy's haircut in preparation for a boys' night out.
Though warned that "folks in Fall City kill fags", Brandon insists that her life, his life, is on track.
Brandon spots Lana and it's love at first sight, a tender and mature sexual relationship develops.
The reality of his gender comes to light when Brandon is imprisoned in the women's section when arrested for a series of parking offences.
His affair with Lana continues unabated. A local newspaper reveals Brandon's identity leading to his demise at the hands of his best friends, Tom and John. –Out In Africa Film Festival
