David Beckham's disappointing US season ends

A season filled with television shows, sold out crowds, dramatic injuries, paparazzi hype, and speculations about the success of American soccer came to a very anticlimactic end this weekend as David Beckham and the Los Angeles Galaxy lost their bid to make the soccer playoffs in a 1-0 game to the Chicago Fire.
Its been the talk of the sporting world this summer, and the anticipation of the arrival of one of the most celebrated sports figures in recent years David Beckham brought more intrigue than the actual game itself.
Injured early in the season while finishing out his contract with Real Madrid, the hype never really panned out, and Beckham never got the chance to prove his 250 million dollar paycheck on the field.
Beckham did, however, prove his star power and managed to fill stadiums to capacity just by his mere presence. For the final regular season game against the Fire, Becks once again brought in a sold out crowd of over 21,000, but the midfielder only saw about 45 minutes of play time.
Away from the field since August, Beckham was a little rusty, and the Fire managed to beat out the Galaxy to earn the eighth place spot in the playoffs.
To their credit, since Beckhams arrival, the team had managed to salvage their less than stellar season with a six game winning streak heading in to this weekends match.
Beckham will have plenty of time to recover as the team reassesses the strategy for next year. With a few months off, Beckham will have plenty of time to catch his wife Victorias Spice Girl reunion tour, which will get underway in December. Now lets see who can really fill a stadium. – Gay Link Content
