NASHVILLE — Nicole Kidman gave birth on Monday in Nashville with husband Keith Urban by her side. The baby girl, whom the couple has named Sunday Rose Kidman Urban, is the first biological child for the actress. Kidman shares custody of two adopted children, Isabella, 15, and Connor, 13, with ex-husband Tom Cruise.

According to an early morning report on Monday by People.com, Oscar-winning actress Nicole Kidman and Grammy-winning country singer Keith Urban welcomed their first child together into the world at a hospital in Nashville, TN. “Husband Keith was by Nicole’s side, and mother and baby are very well,” spokesman Paul Freudlich told People. Baby girl Sunday Rose Kidman Urban weighed in at 6 lbs., 7.5 oz.
Kidman, 40, and Urban, also 40, have been married for a little over two years, celebrating their second wedding anniversary on June 25. The couple announced Kidman’s pregnancy in January, but kept the public guessing on a due date for the baby.
While paparazzi continue to hover around the hospital in France where celebrity couple Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt have holed up in expectation of the birth of their twins, Kidman and Urban managed to virtually slip past the radar in welcoming their new addition.
Keeping a low profile and maintaining a normal routine right up until the last minute, few gossip reporters knew Kidman had given birth until her representatives spilled the news Monday morning.
“Earlier this morning Nic gave birth to our beautiful baby girl, Sunday Rose Kidman Urban,” excited husband Keith Urban posted on his official website Monday morning. “We want to thank everybody that has kept us in their [sic] thoughts and prayers. We feel very blessed and grateful that we can share this joy with all of you today.”
Urban underwent rehab in 2006 at the Betty Ford Center in California after admitting to being an alcoholic. During his stint in rehab, Urban said that he deeply regretted the hurt his addiction had caused Kidman and his family.
Kidman previously suffered a miscarriage and an ectopic pregnancy while married to former husband Tom Cruise. The couple adopted two children together during their marriage and continue to share custody of teenagers Isabella and Connor. However, Kidman has expressed in the press that she feels her adopted children are no longer as close to her as they once were. “They are closer to their new Mum now,” Kidman told Heat Magazine, referring to Cruise’s current wife, Katie Holmes.
During her marriage to Cruise and following their divorce, Kidman was plagued by rumors that her relationship with Cruise was a 'sham' and that one or both of them were actually gay. While Cruise responded angrily to the rumors, even suing over some of the more pointed references to his sexuality in the press, Kidman kept her cool about the constant gossip for the most part.
"They've said I'm gay, they've said everyone is gay," Kidman said, according to NicoleKidmanWorld.com. "I personally don't believe in doing huge lawsuits about that stuff. Tom does. That's what he wants to do, that's what he's going to do. You do not tell Tom what to do. He is a force to be reckoned with." Gay Link Content
