Life is imitating art now that David Duchovny, who plays a sex-obsessed lothario on Showtime’s Californication, has voluntarily entered a sex addiction rehab, which his rep confirmed Thursday.
Duchovny, 48, has been married to actress Tea Leoni since 1997 and they have two children together.
"I ask for respect and privacy for my wife and children as we deal with this situation as a family,” Duchovny said through his lawyer Stanton Stein, the Chicago Tribune reported.
Duchovny’s publicist Flo Grace later confirmed with People.com that her client entered rehab for sex addiction.
The actor skyrocketed to fame in the X- Files TV series throughout the nineties and has since starred in two X-Files films. Recently he’s garnered critical acclaim for portraying the bad boy, sex-obsessed, sleep-around author Hank Moody in Californication, the second season of which premieres soon.
"All of us at Showtime wish David and his family the best during this very private time," reps from the network said in a statement. Gay Link Content
