CAPE TOWN — It's almost time for Cape Town Pride Festival 2005 to start! Time to get your festival programme out and decide what you're going to do. Just to help you, here is the low-down on the first weekend's events:
Red Party & Miss Gay Pride 2005
On Friday 18th Feb the festival kicks off with the launch cocktail party at Sliver. Doors open at 20h00 and at 21h00 you can experience the finals and crowning of Miss Gay Pride 2005. The five finalists were chosen at the prelims on Saturday at Catwalk in Sea Point, and they will be turned out in style for Friday. Entrance is free before 22h00.
From 22h00 onwards the Red Party begins. Entrance costs R40, and the first 400 paying guests will receive a commemorative CD and other goodies. Wear something red to set the night afire and win some fabulous priz! es. Dance all night to the sounds of the best local Djs, followed by DJ Nigel from Dublin! Pink Race Day
On Saturday 19th Feb the country's first ever Pink Race Day starts at Kenilworth Race Course at 12h00! Call Tracey at 0832648905 before end of business on Wednesday or email her at firstname.lastname@example.org to book your spot. Tickets are R120 each and that includes free parking in the members section, a sumptuous lunch in the Peninsula Room, a great view of the racing for the day, and a performance by the top entertainment duo Mince. Dress in glamorous Pink to be part of this historical event. Tickets are limited so call NOW.
Pride Interfaith Service
The Pride Interfaith service will be held on Sunday 20th Feb at the Zonnebloem Estate Chapel, Cambridge Rd Zonnebloem (Di! strict Six) starting at 12h00. Bishop David Russell will facilitate and representatives will be there from most of the mainstream religions including Christian, Islam, Jewish, Sufi, Hindu, and Buddhist. The one-hour service will include song and prayer in a safe environment with people of all races, sexual orientations, gender identification, church backgrounds and life experiences.
