Title: A World of Love (Un mondo d'amore)
Director: Aurelio Grimaldi
Specs: Italy 2002 video 86min subtitled
In luxurious black and white, Grimaldi perfectly captures the quiet drama of the first social transgression of legendary Italian poet, writer and filmmaker Pier Paolo Pasolini. At 27, a teacher, he was accused of immorality and obscene behaviour when, caught up with the ideas of free sexual expression posed in ancient Greek and modern French literature, he joins three teenage boys in a spontaneous sexual exploration.
The resulting scandal rocks the small Northern Italian village. Pasolini is labelled a degenerate and everyone turns against him – but his loyal, yet devastated, mother. Rome, and its anonymity, beckons Pasolini and his mother to seize a new life and rekindle his faith in, and love for, all that surrounds him.
