JOHANNESBURG — The last of the regional finals of Mr. Gay South Africa 2010, after regional finals were completed in the East, Central and South regions, respectively in Knysna, Durban and Cape Town; is imminent, namely the North region, which will be held in Pretoria on Saturday the 4th of September 2010 at Brooklyn Theatre in 13th Street, Menlo Park, Pretoria at 8 pm.
This up-market theatre opened its doors recently and is a new jewel in the crown of arts and culture in the capital city.
Hennie Crafford, member of the Board of Directors of Mr. Gay South Africa (Pty) Ltd. said: "We chose this venue in Pretoria due to its aesthetic beauty and because it is easy to reach from the main highways. Seeing that the Grand Finale is hosted by Johannesburg this year, it is only fitting that the North Regional Final is held in Pretoria."
The event promises to be a highlight of the spring social calendar in Gauteng. Not only will gorgeous hunks be parading in three categories namely formal wear, casual jeans and underwear by Official Underwear Partner of Mr. Gay South Africa™, Bone Wear, but there will be first class entertainment provided by Artist Warehouse, in the form of René van Reenen, a Shirley Bassey specialist, who wowed the audience at the South Regional Final in Cape Town. The MCs will be journalist and Afrikaans TV "skinner" celebrity, Eagan Williamson and Coenie Kukkuk, the Director of Operations of Mr. Gay South Africa (Pty) Ltd.
Extensive interviews, which will count no less than 50% of the total, will be conducted before the event and the scores will be collated by an independent auditor. The judges will be Iggy Mnisi and Jose Rodrigues, the two princes of Mr. Gay South Africa 2009, as well as two representatives from the gay media, namely Luiz de Barros from Mambaonline.com, who is also a member of the Joburg Pride Board, and Frank Malaba, the presenter and content director of Outspoken, a gay radio show on Radio Today.
Barry Vorster, one of the Directors, said: "Each winner of the regionals will win a cruise on the MSC Sinfonia from 15 - 19 Nov., a diamond and precious stones pendant of R6000 from CW Designer Jewellers, a weekend away at Amsterdam Guest House in Cape Town, a voucher from Bone Wear, a Schwarzkopf™ hamper and many more prizes."
The winner as well as the runner-up will automatically qualify for the Grand Finale to be held on 26 November in Johannesburg and the runner-up will also win the cruise and more. The directors have the option of inviting four "wild cards" from across the country as finalists. The amazing theatre where the Grand Finale will take place, will also be showcased to the audience.
Entry is R80 per person and a full bar will be available. As seats are allocated per person, booking is essential.
