JOHANNESBURG — Award-winning British pop-star and dance-floor DJ Sonique is set to celebrate Joburg Pride at the Official Joburg Pride After-party – powered by Cintron Liquid Energy – on Saturday October 2nd.

This will be the first time in four years that Joburg Pride will host an after-party, in addition to the 21st annual Joburg gay and lesbian Pride Parade and Day in The Park, also taking place on October 2nd, at Zoo Lake Sports Club.

Sonique, who is best-known for chart-topping tracks such as It Feels So Good and I Put a Spell on You will not only DJ at the after-party but will also perform a selection of her hits, backed by her sizzling touring dancers. The star, who last visited the country in 1998, will be supported by a line-up of top South African DJs soon to be announced.

"I am so excited to be returning to South Africa where the people are so warm and I had such a great time last time I visited," said Sonique from London. "It's an honour to be headlining Johannesburg Gay Pride and I'm gonna do my best to give the gay people of Joburg the best time ever," she added.

Sonique will also make a special afternoon teaser appearance on stage at the Joburg Pride Day in the Park following the annual gay and lesbian Pride Parade. Sonique – who won the 2001 BRIT Award for British female solo artist – is brought to Joburg Pride by new energy drink Cintron Liquid Energy.

"The after-party is intended to be an inclusive and entertaining fundraiser to ensure that Joburg Pride remains a sustainable entity going into the future," said Joburg Pride Co-Chair Zak Mbhele, who added that all profit generated by the party will go towards Joburg Pride.

He noted that the after-party tickets will be priced competitively to accommodate as many people from the community as possible. Further information on the Official Joburg Pride After-party, including venue and ticketing details will be announced shortly.

The Joburg Pride Day will kick off at Zoo Lake on Saturday October 2nd with the Parade starting at 10am. Entrance is free. For more information about Joburg Pride, visit www.joburgpride.org.
